The Oyster Box Hotel, Umhlanga, South Africa

The five-star hotel on Umhlanga’s beachfront has been awarded the No. 1 spot of trip advisor’s traveler choice award as Top Hotel in South Africa every year since 2017. Overlooking the Indian Ocean, the 86-room Oyster Box is not only one of South Africa’s best-loved hotels, but is also considered to be one of the best hotels in Africa. Besides luxurious accommodation, it offers a spa, two swimming pools, gardens and a movie theatre.

In order to provide the building with a voice evacuation system that doubles as public address system for timed announcements and BGM, Eagle Fire Control chose to install TOA’s VM-3000 Voice Evacuation System. Both the safety of guests and staff, and good quality sound have been defined as main requirements for the system. Especially speech intelligibility was an important feature for the selection of the speakers, while over all the longevity of TOA’s systems weighed in for the VM-3000.
